BlackBerry was founded in 1984 by Mike Lazaridis and Douglas Fregin, as Research In Motion. In 1992, Lazaridis hired Jim Balsillie. Both served as Co-CEOs until Thorsten Heins became President and CEO on January 22, 2012, when John S. Chen took on the position of CEO in November 2013. It is recently planning to establish licensing agreements with device manufacturing companies, e.g., TCL Contact and unifying the software synchronized anthology of BlackBerry. It is a multinational and multidimensional company specializing in enterprise software. It was initially known as Research In Motion ( RIM) and created the smartphone and tablet brand BlackBerry.
