Sony Mobile Communications Inc. is a multinational telecommunications corporation established as a cooperative adventure between Sony and Ericsson on 1 October 2001, with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, and ultimately headed by Sony. Sony got an accession in Ericsson 's share of the systems’ opening on February 16, 2012, after its incorporated origin as Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, which was headquartered in London, England. On March 26, 2020, Sony announced that it would set up a shared intermediary company called Sony Electronics Corporation to incorporate the three companies representing its Electronics Products & Solutions business. Sony Mobile has a grasp over a universal market share of less than 1 percent in 2017, but 4.8 percent in Europe and 16.3 percent in Japan. Sony Mobile produces Android-powered smartphones exclusively under the brand name Xperia-along with accessories and system apps, previously created tablet computers (Sony Tablet), smartwatches (Sony SmartWatch), and fitness trackers (Sony SmartBand).
